PH Ambassador, PH Embassy in Amman Call on the Minister of Labor, Discuss Preparations for the Inaugural Joint Committee Meeting on Labor Matters

AMMAN, 17 June 2025 – Philippine Ambassador Wilfredo C. Santos paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Labor, H.E. Khaled Mahmoud Al-Bakkar, at the Ministry of Labor in Amman.

Secretary General H.E. Abdullah Al-Jabour welcomed the officials of the Embassy and MWO and presided over the meeting ahead of the upcoming inaugural Philippines-Jordan Joint Committee Meeting (JCM) on Labor Matters to be held in Amman, Jordan.

The Ministry of Labor took the opportunity to recognize the valuable contributions of Filipino workers in Jordan, noting their strong work ethic and professionalism particularly in domestic work and service-related industry sectors. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to promote the welfare and rights of Filipino workers and to ensure their protection and well-being.

Also in attendance at the meeting were Second Secretary and Consul Angeli A. Payumo, Third Secretary and Vice Consul Sheila Marie G. Andales, Communications and Protocol Officer Allan G. Oseo, Jr., Political and Economic Assistant Ma. Jolina M. Guerrero from the Philippine Embassy in Amman. Officials from the Migrant Workers Office Jordan, Labor Attaché Armi Evangel N. Peña, Asst. Labor Attaché Jaybee John Vincent Baginda, Administrative Staff Cheryl Pesigan, and Translator Atty. Bilal Odeh.

Representatives from the Ministry of Labor included the Director of Migrant Workers Riyad Barham, Director of International Cooperation Eng. Eman Aljaafari, Director of Legal Affairs Mahmoud Al-Wreikat, Director of Domestic Workers Mabda Alabadi, Head of the International Agreements and Coordination Odai Al-Batayneh, International Relations Officer Enas Nasran, and Labor Inspector Majed Jaber.
