Philippine Embassy Commemorates National Heroes' Day with Filipino Community through Fun Run Activity

In commemoration of the National Heroes’ Day which is celebrated every last Monday of August each year, the Philippine Embassy in Jordan participated in a fun run activity titled “Takbo para sa mga Bayani”, or Run for Heroes held on 26 August 2022, at Abdoun, in the capital city of Amman. It is the first-ever fun run event for Filipinos in Jordan, organized by the Filipino community group Pinoy Runners Brgy. Amman, in cooperation with Run Through Jordan.

In her special remarks before the start of the race, Chargé d’ Affaires Angeli A. Payumo reminded the Filipino community to uphold the courage and bravery of Filipino heroes and wished the runners to finish strong. The event had 5-km and 1.5-km race routes for adults and children, respectively, and was participated in by around 300 Filipinos. With its fun atmosphere, the race also fostered camaraderie and bonding among the Filipino community. The top three runners were awarded with trophies in the men’s and women’s categories for both adults and children.
