Philippine Ambassador Participates in the 9th ASEAN Committee in Amman Meeting

The Philippine Ambassador to Jordan, His Excellency Wilfredo C. Santos actively participated in the 9th ASEAN Committee in Amman (ACA) Meeting held on 25 June 2023, hosted by the Thai Ambassador to Jordan, His Excellency Supark Prongthura, in his capacity as the ACA Chair. The meeting brought together esteemed Ambassadors from ASEAN member states represented in the Kingdom, namely, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand,  as well as the members of the ACA Working Group.

During the gathering, the ACA members engaged in productive discussions on the ACA's achievements and initiatives undertaken in the first half of 2023, under the capable Chairmanship of Thailand. Various topics of regional importance were addressed, focusing on strengthening ASEAN's presence and collaboration in the Jordanian context.

The ACA meeting also served as a valuable platform to facilitate knowledge-sharing on best practices and strategies for enhancing ASEAN's engagement and cooperation with Jordan across various sectors.

Additionally, the gathering served as a planning session for the ACA's upcoming activities in the second half of 2023. The ACA members, guided by the principles of unity and shared goals, worked towards formulating an agenda that would foster deeper ASEAN integration and collaboration with Jordan. These activities aim to reinforce the bonds of friendship and explore new avenues for economic, cultural, and social cooperation between ASEAN member states and Jordan.

Furthermore, the 9th ACA Meeting included a significant turnover ceremony, symbolizing the transition of the ACA Chairmanship from Thailand to Malaysia for the second half of 2023. The ceremony was conducted with great honor and marked the beginning of Malaysia's stewardship in leading the ASEAN Committee in Amman. The participating ambassadors extended their congratulations and expressed their confidence in Malaysia's ability to steer the committee's activities towards new milestones and achievements. The turnover ceremony exemplified the spirit of continuity and collaboration that characterizes ASEAN's collective efforts in Jordan.

The Philippine Embassy in Jordan remains dedicated to further strengthening bilateral relations between the Philippines and Jordan. The Embassy will continue working closely with its ASEAN counterparts to foster a robust ASEAN presence in Jordan and explore mutually beneficial opportunities for cooperation.

The participation of Ambassador Santos in the 9th ACA Meeting underscores the Philippines' unwavering commitment to ASEAN's vision of regional peace, stability, and prosperity.
