PHILIPPINE AMBASSADOR, MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE DISCUSS AGRICULTURAL COOPERATION
In pursuit of fortifying the ties between the Philippines and Jordan, a momentous courtesy call was made by the Philippine Ambassador to Jordan, His Excellency Wilfredo C. Santos, to the Minister of Agriculture, His Excellency Khaled Hnaifat on 26 July 2023.
The meeting, which marked a significant milestone in the bilateral relations of the two nations, centered on the discussion about the formulation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on agricultural cooperation between the Philippines and Jordan. The MOU aims to formalize and solidify the commitment of both countries as they seek to elevate agricultural cooperation through new market access and the diversification of agricultural products.
During the discussions, both parties emphasized the potential for enhanced collaboration in agricultural trade. The Philippines aims to boost exports of its high-quality agricultural products to Jordan, while Jordan, in turn, aspires to introduce its distinct agricultural commodities to the Philippine market.
“By diversifying agricultural products and leveraging trade and market access, we can create a robust agricultural partnership that benefits both nations. This cooperation will not only bolster our agricultural industries but also promote economic development, food security, and sustainable practices in our respective regions,” Ambassador Santos remarked.
Both sides expressed optimism about the bright prospects ahead of this endeavor. The two officials further reaffirmed their commitment to working hand in hand to harness the full potential of both countries’ agricultural sectors and contribute to regional prosperity.
Ambassador Santos was accompanied by Third Secretaries and Vice Consuls Angeli A. Payumo and Sheila Marie G. Andales. END
