28 January 2024 - As part of the Chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee in Amman (ACA), Philippine Ambassador to Jordan Wilfredo C. Santos hosted the 12th ACA Meeting on 28 January 2024 at the Four Seasons Hotel. 

During the meeting, the ACA, consist of Ambassadors of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand and the working group, discussed the calendar of activities and the action plans they will set during the six-month term of the Philippines’ chairmanship that covers the period 01 January 2024 to 30 June 2024.

In his welcoming remarks, Ambassador Santos stated, “As we gather here today, I reflect on the rich tapestry of diversity that defines the ASEAN community. Our member states bring forth unique cultures, histories, and perspectives, and it is this very diversity that forms the foundation of our strength. I am committed to fostering an environment where this diversity is not only celebrated but leveraged to tackle the challenges and embrace the opportunities that lie ahead.”

“During my chairmanship, I am determined to strengthen the ties that bind us, both within ACA and with our partners in Jordan. Open communication, inclusivity, and mutual respect will be the cornerstones of our collaborative efforts. Together, we will maintain an environment where ideas flourish, solutions are found, and partnerships are forged for the greater good of ASEAN,” Ambassador Santos added. 

The ACA and the working group scheduled several meetings with various stakeholders and local personalities to strengthen the bonds of people-to-people connection and cultural initiatives among ASEAN member states and various partners in Jordan.  END
