ASEAN Committee in Amman Calls On MFAE Chief of Protocol and Department of Asia and Oceania Affairs Director

AMMAN 15 February 2024 – As part of the goals to reaffirm their commitment to further boost overall ties between ASEAN and Jordan, the ASEAN Committee in Amman (ACA) led by the Philippine Ambassador to Jordan Wilfredo C. Santos, as the ACA Chairperson, made a courtesy call on key officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates (MFAE), Chief of Protocol H.E. Sami Ghousheh, and Department of Asia and Oceania Affairs Director H.E. Mohammad Abu Wendi on 15 February 2024.
During the meeting, Ambassador Santos highlighted ACA’s aim to bring its engagement with Jordan to a higher level by promoting greater awareness and cultural understanding of the ASEAN region among the Jordanian people and deeper economic ties between ASEAN and Jordan. The ACA Ambassadors also took turns reporting on their various programs and projects to deepen their respective countries’ cooperation with Jordan.
H.E. Sami Ghousheh and H.E. Mohammad Abu Wendi both expressed the MFAE’s continued support for the ACA initiatives, both at the level of the ACA and bilaterally. Both sides recognized the important role that ASEAN and Jordan play in addressing regional and global issues in pursuit of peace, stability, and prosperity.
The meeting showcased the ACA's commitment to advancing diplomatic relations with Jordan. It also served as an opportunity for both sides to exchange views and commitments on matters of mutual interest.
The ACA is composed of the resident Ambassadors of five (5) ASEAN member states represented in Jordan, namely, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand. END
