Philippine Embassy Hosts Iftar for the Filipino Muslim Community
On 05 April 2024, the Philippine Embassy in Jordan, led by His Excellency Ambassador Wilfredo C. Santos, hosted an iftar gathering for the Filipino Muslim community at the Bayanihan Hall of the Philippine Embassy.
Fifteen (15) Filipino Muslim students and workers, representing various tribes in the Philippines, celebrated Iftar with Ambassador Santos and other Embassy officials.
Ambassador Santos warmly welcomed everyone and expressed joy in seeing the diverse representation of Muslim tribes coming together. The night was then filled with warmth and camaraderie as the group gathered to break their fast.
Iftar is the meal with which Muslims break their fast during the holy month of Ramadan. It is also a time of communal reflection, gratitude, and bonding among the communities. The breaking of the fast usually begins with the eating of dates and drinking of water, following the Prophet Muhammad's example, before moving on to the more substantial dishes.
Through this sumptuous Iftar meal at the Embassy, everyone was reminded of the values of compassion, charity, and togetherness that are central to Ramadan. END
