ASEAN Committee in Amman Explores Collaboration on Economic Development with the Jordan Strategy Forum
AMMAN 21 May 2024 – The ASEAN Committee in Amman (ACA), under the chairmanship of Philippine Ambassador Wilfredo C. Santos, together with the ASEAN Ambassadors of Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand met with Jordan Strategy Forum Chief Executive Officer H.E. Nesreen Barakat on 21 May 2024 with an aim to explore possible collaboration on economic development strategies.
H.E. Barakat gave a presentation on the Jordan Strategy Forum organization, and an overview of Jordan's Economic Modernization Vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II, as well as the economic profile of Jordan. She also highlighted the trade relations between Jordan and the ASEAN countries, and acknowledged that ASEAN countries have a good track record in economic growth and prosperity. She re-echoed Jordan’s current pursuit to seek greater levels of economic cooperation with non-traditional partners and efforts to increase Foreign Direct Investments.
Ambassador Santos in his opening message as Chair, introduced the ACA, and expressed the ACA’s intention to look for areas of collaboration in trade. The meeting became an avenue to discuss means to bolster economic cooperation between Jordan and ACA member states. The meeting concluded with the presentation of a token of appreciation to H.E. Barakat.
Jordan Strategy Forum is a non-profit organization and a leading think tank on Economic development. Founded on 30 August 2012, JSF was formed to enable the private sector to engage in constructive dialogue on local economic issues and achieve comprehensive economic development.
