Philippine Embassy Graces UFO Summer Sports League Awarding Ceremony

The Philippine Embassy in Jordan graced the United Filipino Organization (UFO) Summer Sports League Awarding Ceremony on 12 July 2024 at the Terra Sancta College Gymnasium in Jabal Webdeh, Amman.

During the event, 10 men's basketball and 10 women's volleyball teams from the organization were present and recognized for their achievements in these sports. 

Consul Angeli A. Payumo delivered the inspirational speech on behalf of Ambassador Wilfredo C. Santos. Consul Payumo emphasized the importance of sports in uniting communities and fostering mutual respect and understanding. "The Philippine Embassy commends your unwavering dedication and rest assured that we remain supportive of this endeavor because it promotes friendship and camaraderie, sportsmanship and maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle." Consul Payumo remarked. 

UFO, Embassy and Migrant Workers Office (MWO) Jordan officials awarded the athletes with medals and trophies. The event highlighted the athletes' determination and strengthened the bonds of friendship and solidarity within the Filipino community in Jordan. 

This event also celebrated the 10th anniversary of the UFO Sports League, which takes place twice a year during the winter and summer seasons. It concluded with a sense of excitement and anticipation for the next UFO Sports League winter edition. The UFO sports league brings together at least 350 participating Filipino community members annually.

Joining Consul Payumo during the event were Vice Consul Sheila Marie G. Andales and Cultural Officer Elijah Ang-Encarnacion. END
