ASEAN Committee in Amman Calls on Minister of Industry Trade and Supply of Jordan, H.E. Yousef Al-Shamali

AMMAN 15 July 2024 – With the aim to enhance trade cooperation between Jordan and ASEAN, the ASEAN Committee in Amman (ACA) made a courtesy call on His Excellency Yousef Al-Shamali Minister of Industry Trade and Supply of Jordan on 15 July 2024 at the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply of the Kingdom of Jordan.

His Excellency Yousef Al-Shamali warmly welcomed the ASEAN Ambassadors and expressed the Ministry’s eagerness to pursue collaboration which would enhance trade relations with each ACA member state. The ACA was introduced by this period’s chair, His Excellency Supark Prongthura, Ambassador of Thailand to Jordan, who was also keen in advancing .

During the call, Ambassador Wilfredo C. Santos said, “that strengthening economic ties between the [Philippines and Jordan] holds significant promise for both nations' growth and development. By fostering closer collaboration in key sectors such as trade, investment, tourism, and technology, both countries can unlock new avenues for prosperity”. 

Jordan holds the position of the Philippines’ 85th export market and the 76th import supplier, solidifying its status as the Philippines 65th trading partner for the year 2023.

After the meeting, a token of appreciation was presented by the ACA Chair and ACA member states to the Minister Al-Shamali. 

The ACA is composed of the resident Ambassadors of five (5) ASEAN member states represented in Jordan, namely, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand. END
