PH Embassy, DTI Explore Opportunities to Enhance PH-Jordan Economic Relations

AMMAN 14 August 2024 - In an effort to strengthen bilateral trade and economic relations between the Philippines and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Philippine Ambassador His Excellency Wilfredo C. Santos convened a meeting with the Department of Trade and Industry - Export Marketing Bureau (DTI-EMB) to discuss means to improve the level of bilateral trade between the Philippines and Jordan.

The meeting focused on exploring business opportunities for two-way trade between the Philippines and Jordan. Ambassador Santos explained that Jordan has been “looking east” to collaborate with non-traditional partners. He highlighted that there is still a big room for improvement to increase the Philippine presence in the Jordanian market.

The Ambassador also informed the DTI-EMB that the Embassy hopes to conduct an Outbound Business Matching Mission in 2025 for the Philippine business sector to meet their Jordanian counterparts and introduce them to a variety of Philippine products and trading partners.

The DTI-EMB expressed eagerness to pursue collaboration with the Embassy on the proposed initiatives. The DTI-EMB praised in particular the Embassy’s efforts to raise awareness that the country has still so much to offer in terms of trade, tourism, and culture. The DTI-EMB likewise committed to support and assist the Embassy in connecting them with relevant trade partners from the business sector to facilitate and generate interest in trade and investment in Jordan.

In his concluding remarks, Ambassador Santos thanked the DTI-EMB for their interest and support in the Embassy’s efforts to move forward in enhancing Philippine trade relations with Jordan. END
