PH Embassy in Amman Donates Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) Supplies to MWO-Jordan for OFWs

AMMAN, 19 August 2024 -  The Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) Section of the Philippine Embassy in Amman, led by Ambassador Wilfredo C. Santos, donated its excess ATN supplies consisting of toiletries, shirts, jogging pants, and leggings to the Migrant Workers Office-Jordan represented by its head, Labor Attaché Armi Evangel N. Pena. 

The donation is intended for the benefit of the overseas Filipino workers in Jordan. A simple turnover ceremony was held at the Philippine Embassy for this purpose and was witnessed by Administrative Officer and Attaché Mr. John Danilo Jiao and Protocol and Communications Officer and Attaché Mr. Allan Oseo, Jr.

Pursuant to Republic Act (R.A.) No. 11641 creating the Department of Migrant Workers, the Embassy's ATN functions for OFWs were turned over to MWO-Jordan beginning 01 July 2023. An estimated 48,000 Filipinos are currently residing in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Of this number, around 73% or 35,000 are employed in the household sector. END
