Philippine  Embassy, Philippine Travel Agencies Association Explore Ways to Promote Two-Way Tourism

20 August 2024, AMMAN- To bolster its tourism promotion efforts, the Philippine Embassy in Jordan, headed by His Excellency Wilfredo C. Santos, met with the officers of the Philippine Travel Agencies Association (PTAA) today to discuss ways forward in attracting Jordanian tourists in making the Philippines their travel destination. 

 

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Santos acknowledged the role of the Association in creating a dynamic tourism industry in the Philippines and their contribution to economic development. He emphasized the need to leverage the complementary advantages of the Philippines and Jordan in terms of tourism destination- with Jordanians looking forward to seeing the Philippines beaches, diving destinations, among others and Filipinos wanting to visit Jordan’s religious and historical sights. 

 

The Ambassador also highlighted the importance of connecting them with their Jordanian counterparts to initiate projects that would promote two-way tourism benefiting both the Philippines and Jordan. Afterwards, an overview on the tourism promotion efforts of the Embassy and future programs/projects was given by Third Secretary and Vice Consul Sheila Marie G. Andales. 

 

The PTAA was represented by its President, Ms. Evangeline Tankiang Manotok, who expressed keenness in pushing collaborations that would ensure a higher number of Jordanian tourists in the Philippines. She said that the initial effort is timely especially since their association is now more open to emerging markets. She expressed their willingness to partner with the Embassy and other stakeholders in Jordan in promoting two-way tourism. President Manotok of the PTAA was supported by Ms. Evelyn Dy Bondagjy, the Vice President for outbound, and secretariat team Mr. Rolando Tan, Jr., Elvira Salas and Lalaine Corpuz during the meeting.

 

Joining the Ambassador during the meeting were Second Secretary and Consul Angeli A. Payumo, Third Secretary and Vice Consul Sheila Marie G. Andales, Cultural Officer and Attaché Elijah I. Ang- Encarnacion, and Secretary to the Ambassador Rachel Joy Pamorada. END
