Philippine Embassy in Amman together with MWO-Jordan Visits Al Hussein Social Foundation

 

29 August 2024- The Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) Section of the Philippine Embassy in Amman accompanied by Madame Geraldine C. Lucero-Santos together with the Migrant Workers Office-Jordan duly represented by its head Labor Attaché Armi Evangel N. PeÑa visited the Al Hussein Social Foundation for orphans in east Amman on 29 August 2024 and met its director Dr. Sana Al-Nuaimat. The Philippine Embassy and MWO-Jordan officials checked the conditions and well-being of the five (5) Filipino orphans under the foundation’s care and supervision to ensure that these children are properly taken care of and through the discussion of the individual cases of the Filipino orphans with Dr. Al-Nuaimat and their welfare officers. Madame Santos exchanged conversations with the children and gave them presents reflecting the spirit of solidarity and compassion.

 

The Philippine Embassy and MWO-Jordan officials were given a tour of the facilities of the foundation’s different sections by Dr. Al-Nuaimat. To facilitate positive social development, the children were divided by age and gender. The foundation’s facilities included educational rooms such as classrooms, play rooms, computer room, creative arts and crafts room, music room and a prayer room. Medical and social development facilities are also available where the physical, mental and psychological health and development of the children are closely monitored. There are doctors, psychologists, nutritionists and social workers available 24/7. The orphanages have apartment-like facilities for each group of children and their assigned “mother” who stays with them at all times.

 

The Philippine Embassy expressed its sincere gratitude to the hard work, dedication, and commitment of the Foundation’s officials and employees in performing their humanitarian job and in making the lives of these children brighter and better. In return, Dr. Sana Al-Nuaimat has also thanked the Philippine Embassy and MWO-Jordan for their visit to the foundation and to their in-kind donations such as diapers, facial tissues, wet wipes, children’s toys, clothes and among others to the orphanage.

 

Established in 1953, Al Hussein Social Foundation for orphans is one of the largest welfare institutions in Jordan which provides accommodation, food, clothing, medical, and educational services. Currently, the foundation has two hundred and seven (207) orphans including children who have unknown parents, victims of domestic violence or born in broken families.
