PH Ambassador Welcomes New Trade Commissioner from PTIC-Dubai, Discusses Future Collaborations
17 September 2024 - In a meeting with the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) - Dubai, His Excellency, Philippine Ambassador Wilfredo C. Santos, welcomed new Trade Commissioner Vichael Angelo D. Roaring, vice Trade Commissioner Charmaine Mignon Yalong. The said meeting focused on the efforts to enhance Philippines-Jordan economic relations.
“We look forward to working with you and hope we can work towards increasing bilateral trade between the Philippines and Jordan,” Ambassador Santos said in his opening remarks.
Both sides explored business opportunities with great potential to elevate two-way trade between the Philippines and Jordan, and connections with newly established partners in trade and culture. Ambassador Santos highlighted that the overarching goal of the Embassy is to improve the Philippine’s standing as Jordan’s economic partner and vice versa. The Embassy has been engaging different private and public stakeholders and partners and conducting market sounding to gain valuable insights on potential market opportunities that would impact trade relations.
PTIC-Dubai expressed their eagerness to work with the Embassy on the proposed initiatives and looks forward to supporting and connecting with relevant trade partners from the business sector to facilitate and generate interest in trade and investment in Jordan. The PTIC-Dubai commended in particular the clear and direct plans the Embassy proposed to elevate bilateral relations with Jordan through different sectors including trade, investment, culture, tourism, and creative industries.
PTIC-Dubai is the representative office of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in the United Arab Emirates. PTIC-Dubai facilitates access to information on business opportunities, government regulations, procedures/requirements, and various market, technical, financing and management programs available for Overseas Filipino investors; and is also in charge of promoting increased investments into the Philippines among Middle East and African investors. It has jurisdiction over the UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Israel, Greece, Egypt, and the Russian Federation.
Joining Ambassador Santos during the meeting were Second Secretary and Consul Angeli A. Payumo, Third Secretary and Vice Consul Sheila Marie G. Andales, and Political and Economic Assistant Ma. Jolina M. Guerrero. PTIC-Dubai was represented by Trade Commissioner Vichael Angelo D. Roaring and Senior Trade and Investment Specialist Ms. Roppe Jubilado. END.
