Philippine Embassy Highlights Filipino Products at the 60th Annual International Diplomatic Bazaar
The Philippine Embassy in Jordan, led by His Excellency Wilfredo C. Santos, took part in the 60th Annual International Diplomatic Bazaar on October 5, 2024, at Al Hussein Youth City in Amman, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. This event, organized annually under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Basma Bint Talal, generates proceeds that support the Mabarrat Um Al Hussein Orphanage.
The Philippine Embassy booth showcased a variety of Filipino cultural items, including freshwater pearl accessories like necklaces, earrings, and bracelets, as well as knitted native wallets, abaniko fans, and other accessories. It also featured traditional textiles such as the handwoven Inaul and Cotabato malong. Visitors to the booth also explored an array of Filipino delicacies such as the world-renowned dried mangoes and banana chips, Skyflakes, Great Taste coffee products, among others. This year, the Philippine Embassy was also proud to feature Gluta-C products such as bar soaps, body scrub, and facial wash. Gluta-C is a leading skincare brand from the Philippines, renowned for its potent whitening products that offer more than just skin lightening. Their formulations are designed to enhance overall skin health and deliver a radiant glow.
The highly regarded annual event gathers diplomatic missions in Jordan to showcase their products, to promote international cooperation and also to enhance the understanding of different cultures, making it a significant occasion for both diplomatic and local communities.
The event also served as an opportunity for the Philippines to strengthen its diplomatic ties and to promote the country as a vibrant destination for culture, tourism, and business. Philippine tourism brochures were handed out at the event to the bazaar-goers including government and private officials, members of the diplomatic community, and local and other expatriate communities in Jordan.
The Mabarrat Um Al Hussein Orphanage was founded in 1958 by the late Majesty Queen Zein Al Sharaf. It serves as a nurturing and educational institution for orphaned boys and those from broken families. Within the orphanage, these children are given a secure environment where they can thrive, access various learning opportunities, and pave the way for a happy and fulfilling future.
Over 30 diplomatic missions accredited to the Royal Hashemite Court participated in the highly anticipated annual event, which attracted approximately three thousand attendees. END
