Philippines and Jordan Convene Inaugural Political Consultations

AMMAN 07 November 2024 - The Philippines and Jordan convened the 1st Political Consultations today in Amman, Jordan at the Jordan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, 48 years after the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1976.

The Philippine delegation was led by Honorable Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro, Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations and ASEAN Affairs of the Department of Foreign Affairs, and the Jordanian delegation was led by Secretary General for Diplomatic and Expatriates Affairs Majed Thalji Al-Qatarneh.

The high-level discussions between the two countries focused on strengthening cooperation in various areas, including agriculture, trade, consular, defense, labor, and education. 

Both sides also exchanged views on pressing regional and international issues of mutual concern including Jordan’s efforts at encouraging the international community to address the dire humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

Both sides expressed their commitment to further deepening ties and working together to achieve shared goals. The Philippines will host the next bilateral consultations meeting in Manila. END
