PH Embassy in Amman Personnel Earn Jordan National Red Crescent Society First Aid and Basic Life Support Certificates

AMMAN 23 November 2024 — The officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy in Amman earned Basic Life Support (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation [CPR] and Automated External Defibrillator [AED] Program) certificates after undergoing hands-on training by the Jordan National Red Crescent Society (JRC) at its national training center in Al-Mesdar on 23 November 2024.

The five-hour training session was part of its contingency planning and preparatory activities and in line with the Department’s skills development program as well as Post’s Gender and Development (GAD) programs. This provided the necessary knowledge on how to effectively respond in an emergency situation, know-how and step-by-step process in applying first aid, and to administer immediate care until actual help arrives during emergency cases and/or accidents.

Conducted by Dr. Anas Mansour, and Ms. Natasha Bouran of the JRC, the training provided an overview of Basic Life Support skills, application of first aid for an unconscious person plus recovery position, a detailed demonstration of CPR techniques (C.A.B.D) for adult and infant, a lecture and practical training on the proper use of an AED, and what to do when someone is choking and bleeding. A test was given after the training session.

A total of 22 Embassy officers and staff benefitted from this training program which will help the Embassy personnel to develop essential life-saving skills and this newly-acquired skills will empower them to handle emergency situations. END
