PH Ambassador Santos Emphasizes the “Bayanihan Spirit” at the First Filipino Community Leaders Meeting 2025

AMMAN 24 January 2025 – The Philippine Embassy in Jordan kicked off its first Filipino Community Leaders Meeting for 2025 on 24 January 2025, at the Bayanihan Hall of the Philippine Embassy Chancery. The event, which gathered community leaders, representatives, and members of the Filipino in Jordan, marked the beginning of a year filled with collaboration and cultural celebration.
In his opening remarks, Philippine Ambassador to Jordan, H.E. Wilfredo C. Santos, emphasized the importance of community participation and engagement, stressing that the Embassy’s calendar of activities for 2025 is designed to keep the Filipino community informed and connected.
“Your involvement is important, as it strengthens the bond between the Philippine Embassy and our Filipino community, and ensures that we are all working together to highlight and celebrate the richness of Filipino culture ‘sama-sama’ or ‘all together.’ By coming together, we will amplify the Filipino presence here in Jordan,” Ambassador Santos shared.
He also highlighted the Filipino values of "bayanihan"—working hand-in-hand for mutual support—as central to the goals of the Embassy's programs. The Ambassador encouraged the Filipino community to actively engage in cultural events and initiatives, fostering a sense of unity, pride, and empowerment.
Ambassador Santos introduced key members of the Embassy’s Cultural, Community, and Public Information (CCPI) team who will spearhead the various cultural activities planned for the year with the support of Second Secretary and Consul Angeli A. Payumo. Leading the team is Third Secretary and Vice Consul, Sheila Marie G. Andales, joined by newly appointed Cultural Officer Rachel Joy A. Pamorada and CCPI member and Gender and Development (GAD) alternate officer Ms. Consular Assistant Daphne S. Sarion.
The meeting featured a presentation of the Embassy’s 2025 Calendar of Activities, led by Vice Consul Andales, who outlined the planned events from January to December 2025. Second Secretary and Consul Angeli A. Payumo detailed the Economic Section’s activities, including official visits scheduled for the year. Cultural Officer Pamorada then introduced the first cultural event of the year—the upcoming first PASINAYA in Jordan. This flagship program, made possible in partnership with the Cultural Center of the Philippines, will take place on 14 February 2025, at Zghairon Cafe in Ballad, Amman, with support from the Language City Cafe. Filipino community organizations were also invited during the presentation to volunteer and contribute to the success of the event.
The Filipino Community Leaders Meeting marks the beginning of a series of engagements aimed at strengthening the ties between the Philippine Embassy and the Filipino community in Jordan, as well as fostering the integration of second-generation Filipinos. A total of 28 Filipino Community Leaders, Fil-Com representatives, and Filipino-Jordanians attended the meeting.
