AMMAN, 11 February 2025 - In a significant step toward enhancing trade and investment ties between the Philippines and Jordan, a business-to-business (B2B) matching event was held at the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC), which brought together Filipino exporters and Jordanian importers, wholesalers, and distributors.
Organized in collaboration with the Philippine Embassy in Jordan, led by Ambassador Wilfredo Santos, and the Amman Chamber of Commerce, the event served as a direct platform for businesses from both countries to establish trade linkages and explore partnership opportunities.
In his speech during the opening program at the ACC auditorium, Ambassador Santos highlighted how the Outbound Business Matching Mission to Jordan stands as a testament to the Philippines’ commitment to exploring new trade and investment opportunities and to nurturing partnerships with strategic markets such as Jordan.
The program also included a presentation by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to discuss sourcing opportunities in the Philippines, highlighting the country’s export offerings in the agri-food and personal care trade, as well as its competitive advantages.
The 12-company Philippine business delegation, composed of 21 representatives, was formally introduced, which allowed their Jordanian counterparts to gain an overview of the products and services they represent. A key highlight of the event was the delegation’s commitment to forging a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and the Amman Chamber of Commerce, and the formation of a Philippines-Jordan Business Council. This initiative aims to facilitate sustained business engagements between the two countries.
Following the opening program, the B2B meetings commenced, where the Filipino exporters directly engaged Jordanian businesses, all of whom are ACC members, explored trade opportunities, and discussed potential market entry strategies.
Sideline meetings between the DTI, the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Dubai, and the Chamber were also held to discuss other future collaborative activities to sustain the momentum gained during the business mission.
The success of the Outbound Business Matching Mission to Jordan sparked greater interest in high-quality Filipino food and personal care products as evidenced by the supply agreements between the Philippine and Jordanian businesses. It further reflects the Philippines’ strong resolve to expand the global presence of its industries to foster innovation and stimulate sustainable growth. END
