AMMAN, 16 April 2025 - Representatives from the Philippine Embassy in Amman and the Migrant Workers’ Office MWO-Jordan, led by ATN Officer Charisse F. Malabanan and Welfare Officer Rosalin R. Lavin, respectively, conducted a regular visit at the Al Hussein Social Center for Orphans on 16 April 2025 in Amman, Jordan to look into the condition and welfare of eight (8) Filipino non-marital children currently under the custody and care of the facility.
The Embassy and MWO-Jordan personnel met with Dr. Sana Al-Nuaimat, Director in the Orphanage and the welfare officers, to discuss each child’s case, while MWO’s Case Officer Mohammad Khalid Ibrahim Ahmad Ismail provided updates on the cases of their Filipino mothers. ATN and Consular Assistant Mariella Masiglat-Balla briefed the facility’s officials on the process of securing the concerned Filipino mothers’ Philippines documents for submission to relevant courts in Amman.
The Embassy and MWO-Jordan expressed appreciation to the officials and employees of the orphanage for their care to the Filipino children. In return, Director Al-Nuaimat expressed her appreciation for the in-kind donations received such as diapers, wet wipes, tissue papers, and milk drinks in tetra packs for the children.
From 2023 up to the first quarter of 2025, the Embassy and MWO-Jordan already repatriated a total of fifty-one (51) non-marital Filipino children and their Filipino mothers to the Philippines after the Embassy successfully secured an exceptional concession on 10 August 2023 from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, paving the way for the repatriation of non-marital children and the waiving of their overstay penalties.
