PH Embassy Ladies Showcase Filipino Traditional Attire at Thai Embassy's “Proud to Wear: My National Costume” Event

AMMAN, 29 April 2025 – The ladies of the Philippine Embassy in Amman proudly presented traditional Filipino clothing from various provinces in the Philippines at the ASEAN Ladies Circle in Amman (ALCA) cultural gathering titled “Proud to Wear: My National Costume” hosted by Madame Siriwan Prongthura, spouse of the Thai Ambassador to Jordan, on 29 April at the Thai Residence.
The event celebrated the rich tapestry of ASEAN culture through a vibrant display of their national attire. The Philippine delegation’s colorful ensembles highlighted the diversity and heritage of Filipino textile, drawing admiration from fellow ALCA members and guests.
The gathering also welcomed six (6) new ALCA members and honored three outgoing members with heartfelt farewell gifts: Ms. Pg Siti Norhaziya Pg Abd Halim from the Embassy of Brunei, and Ms. Teresa M. Modesto and Ms. Lily Jane Supeña from the Philippine Embassy. Followed by an update on financial matters and a brief discussion on the next ALCA activity.
The attendees were grouped from different embassies and teamed up for a spirited drawing and guessing game. The lively activity, which challenged the participants’ creativity and teamwork, added a fun and interactive element to the program—further strengthening camaraderie and fostering closer bonds and helping strengthen friendships among ALCA members.
ALCA currently comprises 36 members representing the Embassies of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand. The event concluded with a sumptuous buffet lunch featuring authentic Thai cuisine and the awarding of prizes to game winners. END
